We love this restaurant. It is such a wonderful place to go for a relaxing meal with our toddler. The staff are amazing - Mia (the host) always goes out of her way to make it a great experience for us. I am so impressed with their great care of customers. The food is also wonderful- always consistent (in the best way possible). The restaurant is impeccably clean too. What more can you want? We love supporting them!

Came here for lunch, had a really pleasant experience. Got the omakase, really exceeded my expectations. Fish tasted so fresh, tons of flavor and the service was so excellent.

On the pricier side, but very reasonable for the quality of the food and the service. Busy busy busy, best to make a reservation for sure. The freshness of the food is unequaled for Japanese food in the area, and the cooking is excellent as well. Great authentic Japanese vibe in the restaurant, and the service is excellent. Genuinely kind and attentive, really appreciate the staff.

Highly recommended! If you are a sushi lover, you will love this place. The tempura is crispy and hot, fried in perfection. All the sushi are fresh and melts in the mouth. Love me some omega fats !!!! Yummy ! Service is immaculate. The sake on the menu is sold at a super fair price. I will be back !!!!!!

I'm so glad I learned about this restaurant from a TimeOut article!...We celebrated our 13th wedding anniversary here, and it was such a fantastic choice! We went for the omakase, and for $150, the 20-course experience was both generous and exceptional quality. It's rare to find omakase at this level and price, especially in LA! The sushi and nigiri courses were the highlights for us. Our favorites were the giant clam, golden eye snapper, ikura, and uni - all incredibly fresh and beautifully presented. We also enjoyed the chawamushi and the fried shrimp heads. To finish, the yuzu cheesecake and black sesame ice cream were the perfect light yet flavorful ending to our meal. The service was friendly and attentive. We enjoyed sitting at the bar, chatting with our sushi chef and hearing little details about each dish. If you're looking for a special meal with high-quality sushi and a warm atmosphere, Masamitsu is definitely worth the visit. Next time I'd like to go during lunch and checking out their lunch omakase option.

We've been coming here I thought I'd update the review. The quality of this place was already great and it just got even better! There are some updates to the menu, we got the premium sashimi with the royal upgrade, which included the egg truffle, amazing and a must try. The main chef you can tell right away is still very personable with everyone. He recognized us and still as friendly as ever. Offered some insight on the menu, always an experience listening him talk. Of course the food is amazing. Chef is so passionate and only gets the freshest food. It makes all the other sushi places around seem like a knock off. The fried shrimp / sweet shrimp see pictures, perfectly fried/cooked. Every time. The aroma, the crunch is amazing with every bite. All the sushi super fresh, and does not have the dye that most sushi places have, so you know you're getting the real stuff. Updated with some new pictures, love this place. Reservations get tight for evenings but lunch time usually has some open seating at the bar.

I was a little hesitant before coming here because my party wanted the omakase and that meant I would need to get that too. I like sushi, but I was never a big fan of raw fish. Coming here changed my mind. All their fish tasted fresh, flavorful and melt in your mouth soft. My favorite was definitely the Black cod fish soaked in miso - I couldn't stop thinking about after I left. My least favorite dish was probably the geoduck - it was a little too hard and chewy for my taste. For everyone that's looking at this restaurant and debating whether to come, just do it, you won't regret it!

I am delighted to find another Japanese restaurant in the SGV that serves quality sushi at a reasonable price. I was able to walk-in on a Saturday afternoon and secure seating immediately, the waiter was friendly and guided us through the menu. While I was disappointed that they did not seat my party at the sushi bar, I had fun sitting at the spacious booth listening to conversations around me and watch the sushi chefs busy behind the sushi bar. I opted for the Chirashi Premium and Sushi Premium during the lunch time and upgrade one of my Chawanmushi to the one with truffle and caviar. Everything was delicious, and it is in the medium price range. Would highly recommend checking out Masamitsu if you want a nice Japanese luncheon or Omakase. I later recommended this restaurant to others because they also do take-outs too.

Had the Omakase - sushi is fresh - high quality and done well. The sushi chefs behind the counter were nice and friendly. Our server Amy was attentive and helpful. The hostess Mia was ok - she's a bit rough on the edges. They have good selection of Sake bottles. The place is located along Huntington drive, parking is available at the back. They do close at 9pm. The place is empty by 8pm. It's not a happening place - just good ol' plain sushi. They have tables and booths at the back for larger groups. It is in the heart of San Marino - quite far in the deep from the 210 freeway. It is also expensive - 2 regular omakase and a bottle of $85 sake was over $550 plus tip. If you live close by, definitely worth checking it out. Not something you'd drive for to have good sushi.
